Disadvantages of All-Inclusive Honeymoon Resorts

Monday, August 25th, 2008

In case you have not noticed yet from the tone of posts on this blog, I am a big fan of all inclusive deals for your honeymoon. I think the honeymoon is a great time to focus on each other, and not on seeing the world.

Still, there are some disadvantages of getting everything in one package.

First, you have little control over your itinerary or schedule. Once you hit the resort, you are pretty much expected to stay there, unless you pony up extra fundage for side trips.

Second, costs may be higher depending on the package you selected. There are times when hours of careful research could have saved you some money over the all-inclusive pricing offered by your resort. They have to calculate costs based on the “average” visitor, so you may not do as many activities, or eat as much food, as average, so you could have saved a little mula.

Finally, well, I can’t think of any more disadvantages. I think all inclusive is pretty much the way to go on most honeymoons. Unless you are the super-adventurous, or the super cheapskate type, all inclusive will work great for you and your new spouse.

The Benefits of an All-Inclusive Honeymoon Deal

There are a number of benefits to purchasing an all-inclusive honeymoon package for your honeymoon trip.

First of all, the planning is basically done. You don’t have to worry about making transportation connections, where you are going to stay, or where your next meal will come from.

Second, the all inclusive honeymoon packages sell for a single price. You don’t have to budget separately for food, lodging, transportation, etc. Most will even include tips for resort service staff as part of the price.

A word of caution, though, you need to clarify if your booze is included or not. There are packages that will include it, but most will exclude it due to the issues arising from “unlimited free alcohol.”

Third, the only thing you worry about is where to go, and that is taken care of in your planning process. Once you arrive at your all inclusive honeymoon resort, you are set. There is nothing more you need to worry about.

There are some small disadvantages to the all inclusives, but I will address those in a later post.
